Kim Champagne, SLP
Kim joined Speech Therapy Plus in June 2026. Inspired by her father's recovery journey after a stroke, she pursued a Master of Science in Communicative Disorders at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Following graduate school, Kim and her sister, Erika—also a Speech-Language Pathologist—relocated to Texas to begin their professional careers.
Over the past 16 years, Kim has had the privilege of serving individuals across the lifespan in a variety of clinical settings and with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. While her primary full-time experience has been within public school districts, she has dedicated her summer breaks to working with adults in hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.
In the school setting, Kim has helped children strengthen their articulation, language, fluency, and social communication skills, empowering them to communicate more effectively and confidently in academic and social environments.
Kim has extensive experience evaluating and treating adults with aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, voice disorders, and fluency disorders resulting from neurological events such as stroke and brain tumors, as well as progressive conditions including Parkinson's disease and dementia. She is passionate about providing individualized, evidence-based care that helps clients maximize their communication abilities, independence, and quality of life.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys relief wood carving, spending time with her nephew and godson, Grant, whenever he's home from college, and traveling to Oklahoma to visit and plan life's next adventures with her fiancé, Kent. She also spends a fair amount of time monitoring the daily shenanigans of her Maltese, Winter. And yes, Winter is coming.
