Linda Smith

Linda Smith graduated with a Bachelors degree in Speech and Hearing in 1989 from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and a Masters degree in Deaf Education from Lamar University in 1991. She holds a principal certificate with course work from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Linda comes to Speech Therapy Plus with many years of experience in the public schools ranging from being a Speech Pathology-Assistant, a Special Education teacher, and a Deaf Education teacher. Linda is also fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language as well as Signing Exact English (SEE). Linda has worked in several school districts in the area in several capacities seeing different age children ranging from birth to 12th grade.

Linda’s range of experience includes 10+ years of experience working with different ECI agencies during her time at Clear Creek I.S.D. as the Parent/Infant Advisor. She was also a speech therapy assistant working with the hearing-impaired population as well as with bilingual children and an Itinerant teacher.

She has worked as an Assistant Speech Pathologist at Lamar CISC and a Lead Deaf Education teacher at McAllen ISD. Linda has had the pleasure of working in several school districts due to her husband who is a high school football coach (and football coaches move a lot!!) Linda believes that parents are their children’s first teachers. Therefore, parent involvement is crucial especially during the young years when children are developing language.
