Cindy Durett, COTA

Cindy Durett

Cindy Durett received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southwestern University in 1980 with double majors in General Business and Sociology. She worked as an accounting and benefits analyst for 11+ years for Houston Industries, Inc. and subsidiaries before retiring to stay home and raise her three daughters. Due to her passion for children and her gift of “helps,” she went back to school and received her OTA certificate from Coleman College for Health Sciences in 2013 and became an occupation therapy practitioner. She was excited to gain experience in hippo therapy (horseback riding), hospice, and industrial rehabilitation through clinical rotations.

Since graduation, Cindy has practiced pediatric occupational therapy in the clinical and home health settings in the Dallas and Houston areas. She enjoys helping children with autism, sensory integration issues, developmental delay, handwriting deficits, activities of daily living, visual motor deficits, and so much more. She has volunteer experience working with special needs children in the church setting.

Fun facts: Cindy comes from a “family” of therapists, as her older daughter is a speech therapist and her middle daughter is an occupational therapist. She has two grandchildren who she babysits and “face times” every chance she gets. Cindy loves to cook, read, travel, watch baseball, do Sudoku, and most of all spend time with family and friends.
